The 30 Hours Construction Industry Compliance Requirements course is designed to provide construction workers, supervisors, and safety professionals with the necessary knowledge to maintain safety and comply with OSHA regulations on construction sites. It covers critical safety standards, hazard recognition, and the implementation of preventive measures in high-risk construction environments. Topics include fall protection, scaffolding safety, excavation safety, electrical hazards, personal protective equipment (PPE), and the proper use of machinery and tools. The course also emphasizes the importance of safety programs, proper training, and maintaining a culture of safety to prevent accidents and injuries on construction sites. It is ideal for construction workers and managers looking to strengthen their safety practices and ensure compliance with federal regulations.
At the end of this course, participants should be able to enhance workplace safety and ensure regulatory compliance in the construction industry through:

Understanding OSHA Regulations and Responsibilities

  • Understand the purpose, structure, and scope of OSHA standards specific to the construction industry.
  • Recognize the responsibilities and rights of employers and employees under OSHA regulations.

Identifying and Controlling Common Construction Site Hazards

  • Identify the "Fatal Four" hazards—falls, electrocutions, struck-by, and caught-in/between and the appropriate mitigation measures.
  • Assess the work environment to detect and address site-specific risks proactively.

Applying Effective Fall Protection Measures

  • Understand the components and requirements of fall protection systems such as guardrails, harnesses, and safety nets.
  • Implement site-appropriate fall prevention strategies in compliance with OSHA standards.

Ensuring Scaffold and Ladder Safety

  • Identify different types of scaffolds and ladders commonly used on construction sites.
  • Apply safety practices related to setup, use, and inspection of scaffolding and ladders.

Implementing Hazard Communication Protocols

  • Understand chemical labeling requirements under the Globally Harmonized System (GHS).
  • Access and interpret Safety Data Sheets (SDS) to ensure safe handling of hazardous materials.

Enhancing Electrical Safety Practices

  • Identify common electrical hazards in construction settings.
  • Apply Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and basic electrical safety principles.

Using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Correctly

  • Select and use appropriate PPE based on the task, environment, and identified hazards.
  • Demonstrate proper usage, maintenance, and storage of PPE.

Managing Excavation and Trenching Operations Safely

  • Recognize hazards related to excavation and trenching work.
  • Apply protective systems including sloping, shoring, and shielding techniques to prevent cave-ins.

Controlling Health Hazards on the Job Site

  • Identify occupational exposures to substances like silica, asbestos, noise, and fumes.
  • Implement control measures such as ventilation, wet methods, and respiratory protection.

Training will be conducted via Microsoft Team Meeting, online. Meeting invites will be shared on the day before the first day of training.
