Welding Inspection and Safe Operations course covers detailed welding inspection and operations safety to guarantee quality and safety in the construction, manufacturing, and oil & gas sectors. Participants will be introduced to the basics of welding methods which include arc, gas, and resistance welding, alongside dangers that includes fumes, sparks, UV radiation, and electric shock. Instruction also includes the duties of a welder’s helper, as that pertains to how welds are evaluated for quality, defects, and compliance to standards such as AWS, ASME, ISO. Safe welding practices are also taught with emphasis on PPE use, ventilation, and fire prevention measures, uv radiation safety glasses or other safety precautions. Participants will become knowledgeable about inspection techniques including visual inspection, difference between preventative and protective fire safety measures, NDT documentation, and post-inspection requirements. At the end of this course, the attendee will be capable of conducting comprehensive welding inspections, ensuring safe welding practices, and achieving quality standards in welding assignments.

Upon completing this course, participants will gain the knowledge and skills to effectively inspect welding operations, ensuring quality, safety, and compliance with industry standards:

Understanding Welding Hazards and Safety Risks

  • Learn about the common hazards associated with welding operations, including exposure to toxic fumes, electrical shock, fire, burns, and eye injuries.
  • Understand the safety risks of various welding processes, such as MIG, TIG, and arc welding, and how to mitigate these dangers through proper safety protocols.

Identifying and Assessing Welding Equipment Safety

  • Gain practical knowledge on how to identify potential safety hazards related to welding equipment, including faulty wiring, improper ventilation, and inadequate protective gear.
  • Learn how to inspect and maintain welding machines and tools to ensure their safe and efficient operation.

Implementing Welding Safety Protocols

  • Explore essential welding safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) like gloves, helmets, goggles, and fire-resistant clothing.
  • Learn how to establish safe working environments by ensuring proper ventilation, fire safety measures, and secure handling of welding gases.

Conducting Welding Inspections for Quality Assurance

  • Understand the critical aspects of welding inspections, including visual inspection, non-destructive testing (NDT) methods, and weld defect detection.
  • Learn how to assess weld quality, identify common welding defects (e.g., cracks, porosity, undercuts), and evaluate the structural integrity of welded joints.

Compliance with Welding Safety Standards and Regulations

  • Gain an understanding of the key safety regulations and standards for welding operations, such as OSHA, AWS, and ISO 3834, and how to comply with them.
  • Learn how to ensure regulatory compliance by maintaining welding records, conducting regular safety audits, and adhering to quality assurance guidelines.

Promoting a Culture of Safety in Welding Operations

  • Discover how to create a safety-conscious work environment by educating workers on welding hazards, proper PPE use, and safe work practices.
  • Learn how to conduct safety training sessions, encourage adherence to safety protocols, and foster continuous safety improvement in welding operations.

Emergency Response and Incident Management in Welding

  • Learn how to effectively respond to emergencies in welding environments, including fire, burns, and electrical shock incidents.
  • Understand the importance of emergency preparedness, first aid procedures, and developing an incident response plan to handle welding-related accidents.

Training will be conducted via Microsoft Team Meeting, online. Meeting invites will be shared on the day before the first day of training.

Candidates will be provided a hard bound or soft material covering the whole course which can also be accessed through Phoenix LMS (learning management system) i.e. www.phoenixcpd.com

Successful candidates will be awarded with completion certificate awarded by Phoenix Safety Consultants UK
