Waste Management and Safe Handling centers on the practices and policies of effective waste management and its safe handling which are critical for nurturing the environment and ensuring safety at the workplace. Participants will learn about wastes such as hazardous, non-hazardous, biochemical waste, recyclable, and organic wastes, along with their respective dangers. The course includes ways of waste segregation and categorization, waste storage, transportation, and waste disposal methodologies within the confines of OSHA, EPA, and other local environmental statutes regarding waste management. There is considerable emphasis on the provision and education concerning safe handling techniques such as the wearing of personal protective equipment (PPE), proper labeling, and spill handling. Participants will also suggest plans to reduce the amount of generated waste, enhance recycling, and design waste management plans for various organizations.
At the end of the course, learners will easily understand the need for proper waste handling, storage & disposal, in alignment with industry standards and environmental regulations:

To Distinguish and Classify the Various Forms of Waste

  • Understanding the identification of various forms of waste referred to as non-hazardous and hazardous, medical, or industrial along with their description.
  • To understand the potential health, safety, & environmental risk concerns of each type of waste and their mitigation measures.

To Learn Implementing Effective Waste Segregation

  • Learning the best procedures for waste segregation for managing contamination appropriately for proper waste disposal.
  • To comprehend the relevance of waste segregation labeling and to label the various containers for each type of waste to facilitate easy collection and disposal.

Waste Management Safe Handling & Storage Procedures

  • To gain understanding of the disposal procedures for hazardous and non-hazardous waste and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Learn how to store waste materials without endangering workers, the environment, or the surrounding community.

The Methods of Waste Disposal, Legal Compliance, and Environmental Consequences

  • To investigate various methods of waste disposal such as, recycling, incineration, landfilling, and their effects on the environment.
  • Familiarize yourself with the laws and guidelines related to waste management, ensuring adherence to local, state, and international policies.

Sustainable Waste Management Practices

  • Identify methods to mitigate waste creation and promote sustainability through strategic resource conservation.
  • Grasp the significance of the waste hierarchy and circular economy concepts for long-term sustainability in waste management.

Training will be conducted via Microsoft Team Meeting, online. Meeting invites will be shared on the day before the first day of training.
