Warehouse Safety and Safe Operations will focus on the issues of safety particular to warehouses where heavy equipment like machinery, vehicles, and even stacked materials can be hazardous. Course participants will learn the basic warehouse safety techniques including workplace ergonomics, warehouse operations, container handling system design, and safe use of equipment including pallet jacks, forklifts, and conveyors. The course is focused on hazard recognition and risk evaluation related to slips, trips and falls, emergency exit, and being struck by an object. Attention will be given to safety programs involving adequate warning signs, marked pedestrian walkways, and frequent checking of equipment and machines. Participants will also learn about ergonomics, fire safety, and how to prepare for and respond to emergencies. Participants completing this course should be able to promote safety in the warehouse working environment through reducing any form of accidents and complying with governing business operations regulation.

Completing the training will provide participants the foundational and practical competencies required to ensure safety in warehouse operations, reduction of risks while compliance with safety regulations, and promotion of a safe working environment.

Warehouse Risks and Safety Management

  • Recall Key warehouse risks of a physical, chemical or ergonomic nature.
  • Relate the more obvious risks such as machinery, heavy lifting, and negligent storage of items as potential sources of accidents.

Safe Handling Of Materials

  • Load securing and handling will be studied with an aim at lowering injury risks associated with lifting, carrying and stacking goods.
  • Use of Material handling equipment (Forklifts, pallet jacks etc) will be covered to ensure smooth work processes.

Safe Storage and Order

  • Accidents resulting from improper stacking or placing unsteady shelves require proper order and effective storage.
  • Hazardous materials have legal storage regulations which must be complied with while ensuring safety in storing them.

Emergency Procedures and Responses

  • Steps of carrying out emergencies, fire drills, evacuating etc and giving first aid will be explained.
  • Safety signage showing fire extinguishers and other items associated with incident prevention as well as those that will enable eases and flow will be explained.

Cultivating a Culture of Safety in the Warehouse and Safety Education

  • Recognize the impact that managers have on creating strong safety culture by training employees, communicating with them, and making improvements over time.
  • Discover ways to motivate collective participation in safety measures and the reporting of possible risks and near accidents.

Training will be conducted via Microsoft Team Meeting, online. Meeting invites will be shared on the day before the first day of training.
