Safe Welding Operations and Operator Assessment course facilitates the acquisition of skills to enable the trainees to perform safe welding through the identification and assessment of risks and competencies of operators in industry and construction settings. Participants will be introduced to the typical dangers associated with welding such as fire, hazardous fumes, electric shock, and eye damages, together with effective control methods that guarantee the safety of workers. The major types of welding taught include arc welding, MIG and TIG welding, and oxy-fuel cutting with an emphasis on the usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), local exhaust and ventilation systems, and fire safety measures. Participants will also gain knowledge on compliance with OSHA, ANSI, and ISO standards During the course, there is a formative practical centered on operator assessment which requires the application of skills in safe equipment manipulation, appropriate welding practices, and other measures of safety in welding. The trainees, especially, welders, supervisors, and safety officers get the skills to manage business risks alongside managing compliance and improving welding safety performance. At the end of the lesson, learners will be able to identify risks, apply standards, and ensure safety in welding.

At the end of this course, the participants will have integrated knowledge and practical skills required for safe welding practices including monitoring and assisting operators for compliance with safety measures in the course of work, as well as reducing exposure to risks and accidents.

Knowledge of Welding’s Associated Risks and Safety Issues

  • You will learn about other significant hazards resulting from welding operations like burns, exposure to injurious light, poisonous smoke, and electrical hazards.
  • Factors attributing to the risk like flammable substances, gases which may explode, and welding poisonous fumes will also be discussed along with the health impact they pose.

Basic Protective Gear for Welders

  • You will learn about the PPE equipment relating to safe welding operations such as a welding helmet, gloves, protective clothing, and mouthpieces.
  • The importance of care and maintenance as well as the inspection of PPE for essential safe guarding will be taught.

Safe Practices and Procedures in Welding

  • You will learn the techniques of welding which include the right positions and risks control, ventilation, tools and equipment usage, and standing in proper position.
  • Following and observing procedures and instructions from manufacturers concerning operating equipment will avoid accidents, improve the quality and safety of welding, and foster enhanced productivity.

Skills and Competencies of the Welder: Evaluation and Appraisal

  • The course will teach you methods of evaluation and appraising skills of a welder inclusive of practical demonstrations, oral examinations, and observation of the tasks performed.
  • Recognize the processes for assessing operator proficiency levels in welding so that only competent and capable individuals are assigned welding responsibilities.

Emergency Procedures and Accident Prevention

  • Learn about what actions to implement for any welding-related emergencies like fires, burns, and explosions, as well as other rapid response activities.
  • Understand the safety and firewatch protocols, as well as other hazard communications, and measures put in place aimed at curbing accidents.

Training will be conducted via Microsoft Team Meeting, online. Meeting invites will be shared on the day before the first day of training.

Candidates will be provided a hard bound or soft material covering the whole course which can also be accessed through Phoenix LMS (learning management system) i.e. www.phoenixcpd.com
