Safe Usage and Handling of Flammable Liquids course focuses on the safe containment, handling, and transport of flammable liquids in the workplace to aver fire, explosion, and health hazards. Participants will be taught the characteristics of combustible materials, possible sources of ignition, and the consequences of careless handling. The course touches on key safety approaches such as ventilation, spill containment, grounding and bonding, and the use of fireproof storage cases. String compliance with OSHA, NFPA, HSE and other safety standards is highly encouraged in order to fast track compliance and safety in the work environment. Concepts on risk assessment, emergency response planning, and fire prevention will aid learners in developing notions on the safe handling of flammable liquids. This program targets industrial workers in oil & gas, manufacturing, and chemical processing which allows the learners to understand how to mitigate risks, incidents, and ensure a safe working environment. Upon completion of the training, participants will be able to adopt the best methods of practices for dealing with flammable liquids and in turn, reduce the dangers and risk posed in the workplace.

After attending this course, learners will have sufficient knowledge and skills needed to safely comply with regulations pertaining to the storage as well as the transportation of flammable liquids safety guidelines so as to mitigate the risks of fires and vehicular accidents:

Types of Flammable Liquids and Their Risks

  • Study the various types of flammable liquids along with their properties, flash points, ignition temperatures, and how these features aid in handling them.
  • Identify the risks posed by flammable liquids, inclusive of possible fire threats, dangerous chemical exposure, and environmental pollution.

Maintaining Safe Containment Measures For Flammable Liquids

  • Understand the recommended steps in storing flammable liquids in a safe manner, including but not limited to suitable container choice, proper markings, and maintaining adequate safe distances from ignition.
  • Comprehend other legal considerations like adequate ventilation, spill control, and fire blocking systems in storage areas.

Safe Procedures for Handling and Transferring Flammable Liquids

  • Comprehend the safe procedures for handling flammable materials which include spill proof and non-manipulative containers.
  • Learn risk identification and mitigation assessment techniques for processes where proper grounding and bonding systems are required.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) When Managing Flammable Liquids

  • Identify the types of PPE to be used with flammable liquids which include flame resistant clothing, gloves, goggles, and respirators.
  • To understand the optimum guarding while performing activities associated with flammable liquids using PPE removal, PPE maintenance, and PPE inspection procedures.

Fire Safety and Emergency Procedures

  • Understand the emergency response measures including the use of fire extinguishers and fire emergency shut off systems for spills, leaks, or fires in flammable liquids.
  • Understand the fire prevention measures which include maintaining free access to emergency exit routes, installation of fire suppression systems, and training personnel on emergency procedures.

Training will be conducted via Microsoft Team Meeting, online. Meeting invites will be shared on the day before the first day of training.
