Safe Handling of Combustible Dusts course gives important training on the risks caused by combustible dusts and corresponding preventive measures pertaining to fires, explosions, and other health threats in a working environment. Participants will understand the properties of combustible dusts, possible ignition sources, dust pile-up dangers, and bursting out prevention methods. The course emphasizes the proper handling of dust as well as housekeeping, ventilation, explosion proofing, and equipment usage practices. Compliance with various safety standards such as OSHA, NFPA652, and ATEX is emphasized for regulatory compliance and workplace safety features. This will assist participants in developing a complete approach towards the practical insights in dealing with dust risks including risk assessment, emergency response planning, and hazard mitigation strategies. This training focuses on workforce members from industries like manufacturing, food processing, pharmaceuticals as well as woodworking, and equips them with knowledge and skills for incident prevention and risk management practices towards safe work environments. By the end of the course, learners will be able to implement practices that effectively manage the risks posed by combustible dust and comply with industry standards and restrictions.

After finishing the training, the participants will be able to understand the best practices required for the safe management and control of combustible dust in industrial settings while complying with applicable laws and minimizing the risk of explosions, fires, or other hazards:

Understanding Details of Combustible Dust and its Associated Risks

  • Identify the characteristics of hazardous combustible dust from its particles, size, ignition temperature, and the potential risk of explosiveness or fire.
  • Grasp the potentially devastating effects of dust explosions in various sectors such as manufacturing, food industry, processing pharmaceuticals, and agriculture.

Proper Storage and Protecting Containment Barriers for Suspended Combustible Dust

  • Examine principles that ensure the proper storage of combustible dust in protected areas with adequate ventilation.
  • Understand the critical role played by dust containment systems such as dust collectors in preventing the buildup of dust and ignition.

Effective Control Scaffold for Accommodating Dust and Air Circulation Facilities

  • Study the processes that result in the generation of dust and the implementation of engineering control such as local exhaust ventilation and dust removal systems.
  • The use of proper ventilation and airflow techniques in reducing the amount of combustible dust in the air to prevent dust explosions.

Personal Protective Equipment for Combustible Dust Management

  • Personal protective equipment including flame-resistant clothing and respirators specifically designed to safely handle a wide range of combustible dusts.
  • Understand the proper measures of maintaining PPE to protect workers from inhalation, burns, and other injuries associated with combustible dust exposure.

Active Defenses and Incident Prevention Measures

  • Grasp the appropriate emergency steps to take with anything related to fires, including combustible dust explosion fortification, explosion relief systems, and emergency shutdown procedures.
  • Understand how to avoid incidents through efficient safety checkups, drills, danger assessments, and basic endpoint analysis to create a dust-free incident setting environment.

Training will be conducted via Microsoft Team Meeting, online. Meeting invites will be shared on the day before the first day of training.

Candidates will be provided a hard bound or soft material covering the whole course which can also be accessed through Phoenix LMS (learning management system) i.e. www.phoenixcpd.com

Successful candidates will be awarded with completion certificate awarded by Phoenix Safety Consultants UK

This course will be useful for a wide range of professionals including but not limited to:

  • Safety managers and coordinators having major responsibilities of occupational safety and health.
  • Supervisors and team leaders
  • Environmental health and safety specialists
  • Construction workers and site managers
  • Manufacturing and industrial plant workers
