This course gives basic instruction on how to use the Permit to Work (PTW) System which is very important in managing safety for high risk activities within workplaces such as construction sites, chemical plants and offshore installations. Participants will be able to understand the rationale of PTW, its significance, different types of permits such as hot work, confined space entry, electrical work among others, and the responsibilities of permit issuers, approvers and users. The course covers essential aspects such as on risk assessment, authorizations, isolation and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, and adherence to international safety standards including OSHA, HSE, and ISO 45001. Careful consideration is given to communication, misuse of work pass, and other control measures necessary to diminish workplace incidents and accidents. The training is meant for supervisors, safety officers, and other personnel carrying out high risk work. This training allows the learners to manage PTW systems, safety within the workplace, and compliance to set regulations. After attending this course, the participants will confidently issue, receive, and control work permits ensuring that the working environment is as safe as it can be.

After completing this course, the intended purpose is for the participants to have full knowledge and skills for proper implementation and management of Permit to Work (PTW) systems while maintaining safe, regulatory compliant work environments as well as minimizing risk for most hazards related to work.
