The primary focus of Manual Handling and Ergonomics course is to reduce the likelihood of workplace injuries through safe manual handling techniques alongside ergonomic approaches. Participants will learn risk identification, evaluation, and control in relation to lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling loads, with the aim of preventing MSDs and other strain injuries. The course covers proper lifting posture, load evaluation, mechanical aids, workplace ergonomics, and other issues that influence efficiency and physical stress. Compliance with OSHA and ISO 11228 ergonomics and safety standards, along with other international guidelines, will help create a safer work environment. This course is intended for employees and their supervisors, as well as safety practitioners. These participants are provided with concepts for implementing practical ergonomics in the workplace, reducing the incidence of injuries, and improving productivity. At the end of this course, participants will be able to utilize safe manual handling procedures along with ergonomics for an injury free environment.

At the end of this course, participants will be able to safely implement manual handling procedures and apply ergonomic principles in the workplace, safe from injuries, while also improving employee well-being:

Introduction to Manual Handling and Ergonomics

  • Comprehend the dimensions of manual handling and its associated hazards (e.g., MSDs) and workplace injuries.
  • Gain knowledge on how ergonomics assists in less physically demanding work through posture improvement to promote efficiency.

Identifying and Assessing Manual Handling Risks

  • Recognize risky manual handling activities such as lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling heavy objects.
  • Know how to carry out a manual handling risk assessment to identify existing hazards and determine safety measures to be put in place to avert injury emergence.

Safest Method of Manual Handling

  • Properly demonstrate and apply the lifting techniques of body posture, hand, and assistive device or trolley and hoist use for lowering strain in manual handling.
  • Safely handling large or awkward loads involves lifting them in a team, communicating, and ensuring safety and efficiency.

Ergonomic Design And Workstation Setup

  • Explore the assignment of physical stress workloads concerning height-adjusted seating and work tools to specific workstations. With especial attention given to posture and comfort, learn about appropriate tool placement/ workstation height adjustment.
  • Study the impacts of workplace changes, specifically shifts towards ergonomic posture of work, on injury prevention and productivity enhancement associated with repetitive micro TBI's.

Manual Handling Training And Safety Program Implementation

  • Create and impart classroom manual handling and ergonomics training courses aimed at teaching employees safe maneuvering and ergonomic techniques for proper transitioning from one workstation to another.
  • Embrace compliance with preset industry standards and other unobtrusive non-legal regulations set forth for the overall culture of safety within manual handling.

Training will be conducted via Microsoft Team Meeting, online. Meeting invites will be shared on the day before the first day of training.

Candidates will be provided a hard bound or soft material covering the whole course which can also be accessed through Phoenix LMS (learning management system) i.e. www.phoenixcpd.com

Successful candidates will be awarded with completion certificate awarded by Phoenix Safety Consultants UK
