Managing Noise in Food and Beverage Industries course tackles the issues of managing noise in food and beverage firms where high noise levels from machinery, starting line products and packaging activities can adversely impact the health and safety of employees. Attendees will understand the effects of noise in hearing and health, as well as the legal obligations pertaining to noise such as the Control of Noise at Work Regulations. Practical instruction is given on how to conduct noise risk assessments, determine sources of excessive noise, and digital implementation of controls options which include engineering controls like source noise reduction, administrative controls such as job rotation, and personal protective equipment (PPE) like earplugs and earmuffs. The instruction also includes strategies on good example of employer and employee communication and involvement to help cultivate understanding of the risks related to noise and compliance with safety regulations. Participants will learn how to mitigate noise levels, manage the risk of damages hearing, and adhere to legal and regulatory requirements by the end of the course.

After completing this course learners will be able to manage and control noise hazards in the food and beverages industry with respect to employees health and compliance to noise regulations.

  • Be aware of the sources and classification of noise within food and beverage industries such as machinery and equipment, and production noise.
  • Be aware of the adverse effects of noise pollution and its health risks like hearing loss, stress, and reduced productivity.

Identifying and Assessing the Noise Hazards.

  • Ther will Have necessary steps in recognizing and assessing potential noise hazards in the workplace and their effects on worker health and safety.
  • Be able to apply techniques of noise assessment, and utilize noise measuring devices such as sound level meters and dosimeters.

Implementing Noise Control Measures

  • Study sound reduction methods in f&b such as maintenance of equipment, workstation redesign, soundproofing, etc.
  • Be able to mitigate noise exposure using engineering controls (silencers and enclosures), administrative controls (job rotation), ear protection, and other protective equipment.

A Guide to Noise Regulation Compliance for Businesses

  • Deep understanding the legal obligations regarding noise controls in the food and beverage sector with respect, to local and international OHS laws like OSHA and ISO standards.
  • An acknowledge need for regular noise monitoring and reporting it as part of continuous compliance and maintaining of a safe workplace.

Promoting a Culture of Noise Awareness and Safety

  • Explore methods of promoting awareness on noise dangers and enhancing safety culture within the organizational environment.
  • Learn about training employees on the necessity of controlling noise, proper hearing protection, and taking active measures to safeguard their health in the future.
