In this course, you will learn how to control the health and safety issues that arise in welding, flame cutting, and other related activities. It focuses on exposure to fumes, heat, radiation, electric fires, and explosions. Ventilation, personal protective equipment (PPE), fire safety measures, safe use of compressed gases, and emergency measures are explained in detail. Importance is also given to state occupational safety regulations, risk assessments, and the use of welding and cutting tools. This course is tailored for welders, supervisors, and safety officers and enables them to take preventive measures in order to safeguard worker health as well as the workplace environment.
At the end of the course, participants will know how to conduct welding, flame cutting, and related operations and hazards like fire, gas, burns, and explosions will be minimized.

The Basics of Welding and Flame Cutting Hazards

  • Recognize major hazards for welding and flame cutting, brazing, and allied operations.
  • Knowing what bounds of fire, electric shock, fumes, and UV rays pose to define one’s safety.

PPE: Personal Protective Equipment and Safety Measures

  • Choose proper PPE including gloves, helmets, and aprons for different welding and cutting activities.
  • Learn how to operate and take care of the welding tools and equipment in a safe and proper manner.

Fume and Gas Control Measures

  • Learn about various methods of ventilation, fume extraction, and respiratory protection.
  • Find out how exposure to metal fumes, metal gases, and left-over flux subsequently affect a person’s health.

Prevention of Fire and Explosions

  • Take measures to control flammable substances and materials that may serve as potential ignition sources to the area of concern.
  • Understand best approaches to gas cylinders in regard to storage, leakage, and prevention of explosion.

Compliance with Regulations and Site/Workplace Safety

  • Work and understand the local/international legal terms for welding safety standards. Compliance and observance warrants adjustment under supervision.
  • Safe work methods, barricading, and strict observation are some procedures set for confined spaces and high vantage points.

Training will be conducted via Microsoft Team Meeting, online. Meeting invites will be shared on the day before the first day of training.
