Health and Safety in Warehouses and Storage Facilities course is aimed at helping workers, supervisors, and safety professionals to efficiently manage and mitigate risks associated with warehouses and other storage facilities. Learning outcomes include manual handling injuries, slips and trips, operating a forklift, fire hazards, and falling objects among other common workplace risks. This course builds essential safety skills in proper storage, load and pedestrian traffic, emergency response, and other adequate safety measures. Special attention is paid to legal compliance, workplace risk analysis, and enforcement of safety measures to avoid accidents in the workplace. This training program has been tailored for warehouse operators, logistic staff, and facility managers so they are able to identify safety hazards, apply safety measures, and promote a safety culture successfully. After taking this course, participants will be able to improve safety and lower incidences of accidents as well as increase operational effectiveness in warehouses and storage spaces.

At the end of this training, learners will be able to understand and practically implement procedures for controlling health and safety risks in warehouses and storage facilities with regard to compliance, efficiency, and safety of personnel and property.

Risks Identification in Warehouse Setting

  • Recognize common risks such as slips, trips, and falls, falling objects, and other material handling injuries.
  • Understand hazards associated with machinery including forklifts, racking systems, and poor warehouse layout design.

Safe Techniques for Storage and Material Handling

  • Learn correct methods for stacking shelves, placing inventory safely, and preventing collapses and obstructions.
  • Understand the principles of manual handling and safe use of lifting aids and trolleys to reduce strain and injury.

Vehicle and Equipment Safety in the Warehouse

  • Ensure safe operating procedures for forklifts, pallet jacks, and conveyors are in place and that staff are adequately trained and equipment is regularly inspected.
  • Establish designated pedestrian pathways, apply speed limits, and use visual warning signs to manage level hazards and prevent accidents.

Fire Prevention and Emergency Preparedness

  • Teach measures to lower fire risks through proper storage of flammable materials and maintaining clear, accessible emergency exits.
  • Formulate and implement emergency preparedness plans including fire drills, spill response readiness, and availability of first aid support.

Legal Compliance and Safety Culture

  • Outline relevant occupational health and safety regulations applicable to warehouses, including OSHA and other local legal requirements.
  • Foster participation by promoting proactive safety reporting, conducting regular safety training, and encouraging a collaborative safety culture.

Training will be conducted via Microsoft Team Meeting, online. Meeting invites will be shared on the day before the first day of training.
