Health and Safety in Contractor Management course provides training on the effective management of health and safety risks posed by the activities of contractors in compliances with legal and other organizational requirements. Clients and contractor’s relations and the major client responsibilities toward other contractors in respect to the identification of hazards, risk assessment, and control of the work done by contractors are among the topics to be studied. The course teaches contractors’ selection and prequalification, permitting-to-work, site inductions, supervision of contractors, and safety enforcement. Much attention is given to the prevention, communication, coordination of procedures, and other internal policies to minimize incidents and potential legal liabilities. Aimed at project managers and safety officers, this course teaches learners to mitigate the risks associated with contractors. At the conclusion of the course, learners will be taught how to develop and maintain effective contractor management programs for enhanced workplace safety and effective incident-free business operations.

After finishing this course, participants will be able to manage onsite health and safety risks related to contractors, ensuring safe and compliant working environments.

Understanding Contractor Management Risks

  • Distinguish the particular health and safety risks tied to contractor activities on-site.
  • Know how to evaluate organizational readiness requirements and confirm safety compliance of contractors prior to work commencement.

Establishing Effective Safety Policies For Contractors

  • Create specific safety policies and instructions focused on the preventative and protective measures for relevant project-specific contractor hazards.
  • Know how to inform contractors and ensure compliance within your organizational health and safety policies.

Contractor Safety Induction and Training

  • Appreciate the need for safety induction training on site so that contractors are apprised of relevant site-specific safety and occupational hazards, along with other safety measures.
  • Know how to evaluate and maintain training for contractors based on the risks associated with their activities.

Overseeing And Evaluating Contractors Health And Safety Management

  • Develop strategies for evaluating contractor occupational health and safety management activities while working on your site, ensuring systematic safety management audits and inspections are part of them.
  • Know how to measure and evaluate safety management compliance and appropriate action if gaps are identified.

Managing Health and Safety Documentation and Reporting

  • Know the importance of keeping accurate health and safety documentation pertinent to a contractor’s work activities.
  • Understand the process for filing incidents, managing risks, and ensuring all necessary safety and health occupational certificates are current and available.

Training will be conducted via Microsoft Team Meeting, online. Meeting invites will be shared on the day before the first day of training.
