Health and Safety in Chemical Warehouses course is designed to cover essential safety precautions for the dispensing, storing and warehousing of goods with hazardous chemicals. Participants will learn about major hazards which includes chemical spillage, fire and explosion risks, toxic substance exposure, segregated storage of incompatible substances, and emergency preparedness actions. Participants will learn hazard classification, Safety Data Sheet (SDS) requirements, labels, ventilation systems, personal protective equipment (PPE) equipped repair tools, and sector specification compliances activities. Attention is given to spill containment devices, fire suppression systems, risk assessment, and incident-free manual material handling methods. These professionals include warehouse managers and supervisors, safety officers and other staff responsible for chemical storage. After the training, participants will know how to develop suitable measures to enhance safety and health and provide a safe work environment. Throughout this course, these processes and techniques will be applied to maintain safety, eliminate potential accidents, and improve the chemical safety within a warehouse.

After finishing this course, learners will be able to manage health and safety risks related to the chemical marking, storage, and warehousing processes of chemicals in a way that ensures their compliance with regulations and safety requirements.

Recognizing The Risks That Come With Chemical Warehouses

  • Pinpoint the following risks in relation to storing chemicals – poisonous, flammable, and corrosive.
  • Identify risks associated with improper storage, spills, leaks, and contamination.

Proper Storage And Handling Of Chemicals

  • Appreciate safe chemical storage principles such as proper marking, segregation, keeping it in its appropriate designated area, and maintaining the appropriate temperature.
  • Be taught on best practices for handling chemicals in a way that minimizes exposure, fire and explosive risks.

Spill Response and Management

  • Establish the emergency response plan concerning spills, leaks, and accidents that happen in the warehouse.
  • Know how to clean spills and follow the emergency protocols that are put in place to avert potential risks to the people and environment.

Chemical Workwear For Warehouses

  • Identify the types of PPE that are needed by employees in a chemical warehouse such as gloves, goggles, respirators, and protective clothing.
  • Guarantee appropriate choice, care, and use of PPE relevant to the present chemical hazards.

Compliance with Health and Safety Regulations

  • Be familiar with the chemical safety regulations and standards applicable to warehouse operations such as OSHA, EPA, and other state laws.
  • Know how to manage a comprehensive occupational health and safety program that fulfills legal burden and minimizes potential hazards.

Training will be conducted via Microsoft Team Meeting, online. Meeting invites will be shared on the day before the first day of training.
