Health and Safety in Bulk Storage of Acids course features training on handling and storing bulk acids in a safe manner that minimizes workplace risks while also meeting legal proficiencies. Attendants will understand the dangers of acid storage in relation to chemical burning, toxic fume impalement, environmental contamination, and corrosion damages. Other measures include selection of tanks, secondary containment systems, ventilation, IT equipment, emergency spill containment, and PPE appropriation. Additional focus is placed on identifying dangers, risk evaluations, hazard zone transfer, and adherence to regulations and recognized procedures. This program is tailored to personnel working in chemical plants, warehouse supervisors, safety supervisors, and maintenance workers to empower them to create safety measures that protects not just the workers but their health and the environment. After taking the course, participants are expected to work effectively and efficiently by safely storing bulk acids, minimizing workplace risks, and enhancing overall workplace safety as well as operational productivity.

After passing this course, students will have the knowledge regarding the safe management of bulk storage of acids inclusive of damages to personnel, equipment, and the environment, as well as pertinent health and safety statutes.

List of Pertinent Risks Posed by Bulk Storage of Acids

  • Understand the risks associated with the storage of acids, which includes caustic damage, toxic exposure, as well as potential fire and explosive hazards.
  • Understand the human and environmental risk factors that may contribute to accidents such as leaks, chemical spills, or inadequate ventilation.

Regulations for Safe Practices of Storage of Acids

  • Understand the ranges of temperatures and confinement as well as the corrosive materials that need to be used to properly store acids.
  • Understand how to separate acids kept in storage to avoid dangerous chemical interactions and maintain safety.

Personal Protective Gear (PPG) for the Handling of Acids
