Hazards Identification and Risk Assessment course is designed to teach how to methodically locate workplace dangers and conduct comprehensive risk assessments to avert accidents, and in turn, ensure safety in the workplace. Among the topics to be discussed are the various types of dangers such as physical, chemical, biological, ergonomic, and psychosocial as well as structured approaches like Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP), and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) methods. Other important subjects are legal compliance and best practices for continuous risk monitoring and review, control measures founded on the hierarchy of controls, and several risk evaluation techniques. Notably, emphasis is placed on real case scenarios, reporting processes for dangers, and the incorporation of risk assessment into safety programs. This training is designed for safety officers, supervisors, managers, and all other staff members involved in risk management. Upon its completion, participants will be able to construct proactive approaches to hazard identification, risk assessment, and control measures’ implementation. Consequently, it is expected that there will be an improvement in workplace safety standards, a reduction in incident rates, alongside maintaining compliance with Health and Occupational Safety regulations.

After finishing this course, the participants will have the knowledge and skills required to identify workplace risks and conduct comprehensive risk assessments, promoting a safe workplace and adherence to relevant standards.

Understanding Hazard Identification

  • Discover the different kinds of hazards including physical, chemical, biological, ergonomic, and psychosocial.
  • Appreciate how systematic identification of hazards contributes to the development of a proactive culture of safety.

Risk Assessment Process

  • Become familiar with the steps of the risk assessment process including hazard identification, risk analysis, and evaluation.
  • Learn how to classify risks according to the level of possible harm and the likelihood of occurrence.

Tools and Techniques for Risk Assessment

  • Examine various tools and techniques used for risk identification and assessment, including checklists, HAZAN, and FMEA.
  • Learn how to measure the effect of certain risks using quantitative and qualitative methods.

Control Measures and Risk Reduction

  • Discover how to implement control measures to mitigate or eliminate risks through engineering, administrative, and personal protective equipment (PPE) strategies.
  • Know how to evaluate these control measures and their effectiveness in maintaining safety and make changes if necessary.

Observance of Legal and Regulatory Compliance

  • Understand the perimeter of concern at local, national, and worldwide levels in hazard sighting and risk evaluation, including OSHA and ISO 45001.
  • Understand the necessity of ensuring that legal and other assessment criteria of risk from safety management systems are observed.

Training will be conducted via Microsoft Team Meeting, online. Meeting invites will be shared on the day before the first day of training.
