Hazardous Material Handling course denotes that participants will learn essential information and industry standards relevant to handling, storing, and transporting dangerous goods in the workplace. It considers the fundamental risks linked with chemicals, flammables, toxics, and other reactive substances paying attention to risk, spill management, and emergency action protocols. Proper labeling, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and regulatory compliance, as well as personal protective equipments (PPE) to limit exposure, are also covered during the course. Also included are safe procedures for handling and storage of wastes, segregation of incompatible materials ventilation, and accident prevention and environmental protection techniques. This training does not take any prior education or training as a prerequisite, instead, emphasis is laid on warehouse staff, safety personnel, transporters, and other workers of special hazardous sectors. Participants will develop skills that allow them to follow workplace safety regulations and maintain a safe working place. At the end of the course participants will be able to manage dangerous materials in a safe way, mitigate risks, and improve safety standards at work as well as ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations.

At the end of this course, participants will be knowledgeable and skillful enough to manage hazardous materials safely while complying with all safety regulations as well as mitigating possible risks to the environment and health.

Recognizing Hazardous Materials

  • Acquire the skills to classify hazardous materials using their physical, chemical, and health characteristics.
  • Apply GHS (Globally Harmonized System) and OSHA Standards to identify hazardous materials using classification systems or ensuring accuracy of identification.

Safe Versatile Practices for Hazardous Materials

  • Learn shipping procedures such as container selection, marking, and storage for hazardous materials.
  • Master accident, spill, and contamination free guidelines for various work environments.

Personal Protective Equipment for Hazardous Material Work

  • List other relevant items of PPE for hazardous materials such as gloves, headgear like goggles and face shields, and gowns.
  • Justify selection of PPE based on sufficiency and risks posed by hazardous materials.

Transport and Storage of Hazardous Materials

  • Acquire the appropriate storage practices for hazardous materials such as segregation, adequate ventilation, temperature, and marking.
  • Learn the safety precautions associated with transporting dangerous goods, including compliance with international and domestic laws and procedures.

Emergency Response and Spill Control

  • Train for the prompt response, containment, and cleanup of hazardous material spills and other related accidents.
  • Acquire the skills necessary to deploy an emergency plan, including evacuation, first aid, and communication strategies during hazardous material emergencies.

Training will be conducted via Microsoft Team Meeting, online. Meeting invites will be shared on the day before the first day of training.
