Essentials of Industrial Safety course helps the learner develop knowledge and skills in creating and maintaining an environment that is safe and compliant with regulatory requirements for industrial safety. It discusses the main aspects of industrial safety which are: safety feature design, hazard identification training, safety and health administration, risk assessment, and implementation of accident and injury prevention control measures. Participants shall learn about the common industrial risks & common hazard in construction site such as machinery movement accidents, chemical burn in scalp, fires, poor ergonomic workstations, and others along with relevant safety regulations and standards like OSHA and ISO. Major focus will be placed on safety culture, safety training for employees by safety trained supervisor, and preventative measures taken by the management towards the safety of workers. Emergency response & emergency action plan, PPE, which of the following machine parts always require guards, and safe work procedures are included here. After taking this course, a learner may be able to promote safety internally, reduce the risks within the workplace, and comply with the requirements of industrial safety.

After completing this course, learners will be able to gain the knowledge and competencies needed to ensure occupational health and safety within legal frameworks and organizational policies, as well as effectively manage industrial safety risks through monitoring and evaluation:

1. Understanding the Importance of Industrial Safety

  • Participate in the fundamental principles of industrial safety and study the prevention of work-related accidents, injuries, and illnesses.
  • Discuss the industrial compliance with the safety standards under political, socio-economic, legal, and moral angles, paying special concentration on the adherence to safety treaties.

2. Identifying Common Industrial Hazards

  • Define ergonomics and acquire the requisite skills for the identification of prevalent risks in industrial settings such as chemical, mechanical, electrical, environmental, and ergonomic hazards.
  • Identify the possible impacts of the aforementioned risks on the health, safety, and productivity of the employees and how to assess these risks.

3. Implementing Safety Protocols and Risk Control Measures

  • Illustrate the creation of safety procedures and control measures that suffocate accidents and health-related problems in an industrial environment.
  • Explain key control measures such as machine guarding; limiting access to dangerous chemicals; ergonomic adjustments; use of safety uniforms and other protective equipment (PPE).

4. Compliance with Industrial Safety Regulations

  • Identify important industrial safety policies such as OSHA, ISO, and other pertinent local policies.
  • Identify the corrective measures regarding compliance with standards which include record keeping on safety, regular audits, and reporting breaches of safety policies.

5. Creating a Safety Culture and Continuous Improvement

  • Find out how to create an organizational safety culture that actively involves employee participation in safety programs, provides adequate training, and fosters feedback.
  • Learn how to ensure improvement is a repetitive process by the regular safety reviews, safety audits, and incidents/gaps analysis.

Training will be conducted via Microsoft Team Meeting, online. Meeting invites will be shared on the day before the first day of training.
