Emergency Action Planning for Major Accidents course teaches participants how to develop, implement and manage effective emergency action plans for major accidents and workplace disasters. Incidents such as fires, chemical spills, explosions, or structural collapses, though unplanned, can have dire effects and thus warrant some form of emergency action plan. Key areas of focus for this course include risk assessment, coordination of responses, communication plans, procedures for evacuation, and resource allocation. Participants gain knowledge of OSHA and NFPA regulations along with best practices for developing response teams, conducting drills, and maintaining continuity of operations. Real world case studies, scenario based training, and incorporation of emergency planning into safety culture form the core of this course. It is targeted towards safety managers, emergency coordinators, and supervisors, thus building their competence to lower risks, save lives, and improve workplace resilience when large scale disasters occur.

After finishing the course, the participants will be able to design and manage effective emergency action plans for dealing with major accidents by ensuring rapid response, compliant containment, and safety within the standards set for emergency response systems.

Understanding the Foundations of Emergency Action Planning

  • Know how to design plausible emergency scenarios and drills aimed at evaluating the effectiveness of the Emergency Action Plan (EAP).

Standards and Compliance for Legal Requirements Related to Emergency Action Planning

  • Analyze the legal frameworks which govern emergency action planning such as OSHA, local fire codes, and other applicable standards.
  • Understand how to professionally maintain the EAP while ensuring all legal aspects are fully integrated and that it remains up to date with changing legislation.
