Behavior Based Safety (BBS) course outlines the features of Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) which is a new methodology for improving safety performance at the workplace by concentrating on employee behavior and attitude. Participants will be given behavior based safety training and learn how to detect at-risk behaviors, conduct root cause analysis, and formulate measures to change the work behavior towards safer practices. The course includes all relevant components of the BBS program: observation, feedback, and participation of employees. Special attention is given to the development of organizational culture of safety, when employees have responsibility not only for their own safety but for colleagues' safety as well. Participants study the role of management in supporting BBS programs and the evaluation of the program using statistics and analysis. After the course, participants will be equipped with the skills and concepts necessary to establish an effective BBS program, mitigate incident occurrences, and support a worked environment where safety enhancement is endless.

In this course, participants will learn how Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) can be used to influence employee behavior for the improvement of safety at the workplace. They will gain knowledge on the methods and practices for identifying unsafe behaviors and substituting them with safer practices, which will lead to reduced incidents and improved safety culture in the organization.

Learning the Concepts of Behavior-Based Safety (BBS)

  • Understand the basic concepts of Behavior-Based Safety and its application in workplace incident reduction.
  • Comprehend the role of workforce behavior in workplace and safety and the necessity for safe behavior reinforcement to avert incidents.

Recognition of Unsafe Practices and Associated Safety Risks

  • Acquire competencies relating to the identification of unsafe acts and associated risks in the working environment.
  • Discover how to perform behavior analysis to detect behavioral precursors to safety incidents/risks.

Behavior-Based Safety Program Implementation

  • Develop and apply an operational Behavior-Based Safety program in the workplace.
  • Identify the importance of leadership, employee participation, and feedback on the effectiveness of BBS implementation.

Reinforcing Positive Safety Behaviors

  • Recognize how to reinforce positive safety behaviors among employees, such as through positive reinforcement and rewards.
  • Understand how to build an environment that advocates the use of safe practices.

Monitoring and Evaluating BBS Programs

  • Understand how to assess Behavior-Based Safety programs, tracking and evaluating program success via routine safety audits and evaluations.
  • Understand how to make use of the information generated from the BBS endeavors to improve safety in the workplace.

Training will be conducted via Microsoft Team Meeting, online. Meeting invites will be shared on the day before the first day of training.
