The 30 Hours General Industry Compliance Requirements course is designed to equip employees, safety professionals, and managers with essential knowledge to ensure workplace safety and regulatory compliance in general industry settings. It covers key OSHA regulations, safety standards, and hazard identification techniques, enabling participants to recognize potential risks and apply preventive measures effectively. The course provides in-depth training on topics such as hazard communication, PPE, machine guarding, ergonomics, and emergency preparedness, ensuring a safer and compliant work environment. Ideal for those in manufacturing, warehousing, and other general industry sectors, this course helps develop a proactive safety culture and empowers participants to meet compliance requirements.
At the end of this course, participants should be able to promote a safer work environment and ensure compliance with general industry standards through:

Understanding OSHA Regulations and Workplace Responsibilities

  • Understand the purpose, structure, and application of OSHA standards in general industry.
  • Identify the responsibilities and rights of employers and employees under OSHA regulations.

Recognizing and Controlling General Industry Hazards

  • Identify common workplace hazards including physical, chemical, biological, and ergonomic risks.
  • Evaluate risks and implement control measures using the hierarchy of controls.

Applying Hazard Communication Standards Effectively

  • Understand the requirements of the Hazard Communication Standard (HCS) and the Globally Harmonized System (GHS).
  • Interpret Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and ensure proper labeling and handling of hazardous chemicals.

Promoting Safe Use of Tools, Equipment, and Machinery

  • Demonstrate knowledge of machine guarding, tool handling, and equipment safety protocols.
  • Apply Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures to control hazardous energy sources.

Ensuring Proper Use and Maintenance of PPE

  • Select appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) based on specific job hazards.
  • Demonstrate correct usage, storage, and maintenance of PPE to ensure long-term effectiveness.

Understanding Fire and Electrical Safety Requirements

  • Identify fire hazards and implement preventive measures in the workplace.
  • Apply basic electrical safety practices and understand the role of circuit protection and grounding.

Managing Material Handling and Ergonomics

  • Recognize risks associated with manual material handling, lifting, and repetitive tasks.
  • Apply ergonomic solutions to reduce injuries and improve task efficiency.

Supporting Incident Investigation and Reporting

  • Understand the importance of incident reporting and root cause analysis.
  • Follow OSHA guidelines for documenting and investigating workplace incidents and near-misses.

Training will be conducted via Microsoft Team Meeting, online. Meeting invites will be shared on the day before the first day of training.

Candidates will be provided a hard bound or soft material covering the whole course which can also be accessed through Phoenix LMS (learning management system) i.e. www.phoenixcpd.com
